Joomla Day New England, May 30, 2009: Save the Date!

We are making good progress to planning our Joomla Day.

First, the definites:

  • It will be held May 30, 2009, probably something like 9 AM to 4 PM.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • Mitch Pirtle of KickApps and Barrie North of JoomlaShack and SimplWeb are coming as speakers. We're working on lining up others.
  • We'd still like recommendations for other great people to speak.
  • The Marlboro College Graduate Center in Brattleboro, Vermont, has generously offered to let us use their space for free, in exchange for a 10 Joomla! Day May 30, 2009minute pitch about the school to our participants.
  • There will be 100 participants, max, due to space limitations.
  • We have a fabulous team of UG members who are working on the planning, and another fabulous team of UG members who are working on redesigning/finishing the UG website and the JoomlaDay site.
  • We will need to roll the Joomla Day website out by the end of February to get registration started. You will need to pay the fee on registration to reserve your place as we're limited in our participants.

Then the likelies:

  • We're likely to have a night-before social activity (this would be a Friday night).
  • We're likely to have 8 speakers split between two rooms. But this could change to 6 speakers if we get one bigger room that would hold everyone.
  • We're likely to get a block of rooms at a local hotel if there's demand. But we're thinking that most participants will be local to the area.
  • We're talking with 4 other great speakers about coming. We really hope they say yes.
  • It's likely to be about $45 for the day.
So that's where we are for now! More updates as they're available!
